Happy Halloween!!!
I don't know where I got the idea of dressing Valen up as an m and m for hallowen but Kevin said his whole family dressed up as M and Ms when he was young so in keeping with Killacky tradition our little one was an M & M compliments of Mrs K who whipped up this costume for her granddaughter in no time! anyway, happy halloween/dia de los muertos.

The Grumps
I've been doing a whole lotta rantin and ravin lately, complaining, what have you. About what, you ask. Pick something, I say. Here's a sample scenario, I might be pulling into the parking lot of the grocery store when I'm suddenly struck with the complete idiocy of another driver's actions, sparking a rant and/or rave about that driver to either Karla or the bebe, whoever I think is listening. That's totally happened! But alas, this is just one example. I'm doin stuff like this all the time.
Here's another item for consideration. To most outsiders, Valentina is a sound sleeper. Its not often that we visit anywhere and she's not sleeping. Everybody seems to say that she's sleeping all the time. "Is she ever awake," they ask. Yes! She is awake at the following times, give or take: 12 AM, 2 AM, 4 AM, 6 AM... you get the picture. And there is a direct correlation between when she is awake and when we are forced to be awake. That is to say, she's waking us up for anywhere between 20-45 mins. each time she wakes up. Pobre us :(
If we carefully consider my actions in the aforementioned parking lot scenario, weighed against the sleep schedule of our lovely Vale, we might determine that I'm becoming a total grumpster cuz I'm not used to sleeping like this. And believe me folks, I'm somewhat known for my love of sleep, dating all the way back to my own baby days.
Anyways, I'm just rantin and ravin. I'm not tryin to be a grumpster/hater of my fellow man, and I certainly love my bebe girl. I'm just venting, that's all. For those of you who've been there and done that, you can say I told you so if you'd like. And to the rest of you... YOU'RE NEXT!! BWAAHAHAHAHAHA
P.S. We'll update with some pics verrry soon

a quick message from Vale's mom
hi all...quick blog to say thanks to all our family and friends who have been awesome since the birth of Valentina bringing over casseroles, flowers, cookies, chocolate, juice, queso fresco (which I hadn't had for 9 months), lots of girl clothes and lots and lots of eager baby carrying arms. we love you for that!!! Vale is almost a month old....It's been a month of learning, loving, diaper changing, late nights, sleeplessness, rocking, crying, staring, admiring, worrying, feeding, soothing, the list goes on and on, but Kevin and I are loving every second of it..I never imagined I could love a little baby whom I only just met so very much. I'm working on our birth story and will be posting it in the following weeks, in the meantime here are a few pictures of Valentina doing her thing.

Out and about (or... oot and aboot if ur Canadian)
She's two weeks old as of today. It seems like not so long ago she was just daddy's little princesa, and now she's...well, she's a little bigger at least. And she squirms like crazy, and she makes funny noises, and she fills diapers like nobody's negocios. And yeah, she's a real charmer.
Honestly though (because I rarely do speak honestly on this blog ...jk), I think this parent thing is some seriously tough work, in that worthwhile and rewarding type of way, of course. I mean, this is only week two and I'm a little crankier from lack of sleep and frustrated sometimes cuz it takes us like an extra hour and a half to get ready to leave the house cuz she craps like half a dozen diapers right when we're about to go, and we gotta get her milk ready so she stays fed and and yada yada yada. But overall, I'm lovin it (and screw McDonald's for appropriating that expression for their commercials).
We are out and about, though. We've logged trips to the hospital, the g-rents houses, the farmer's market, and a couple other spots along the way. Its some good 'ol fashioned family stuff, ya know. Vale mostly sleeps through the whole thing, occasionally grunting or cooing just to assure us that she's all good. And Karla is super-momming it up big time. Love ya, babe. I pretty sure she'll be good at this. That's good, too, cuz I might need just a (Valen-)teeny bit of help along the way ;)

QT as Fah
As many new parent have certainly already found out for themselves, everything that your new baby does is pretty darn cute. We are recent subscribers to this belief. Here are a couple of situations that demonstrate this under the most extreme conditions:
1) She smiles = Cute (despite the fact that the smile happened b/c she was pooping)
Not yet convinced, try these ones on...
2) She craps on my hand as I'm changing her already dirty diaper = Still pretty cute
3) She pees onto her fresh diaper mid-change, and onto the bed that she is laying on. I try to catch the pee in the diaper but there is just too much pee and her squirming makes it even tougher = Hmmm... Super Cute. And we're also happy about the quantity of pee cuz the doctors said that's a good sign.
Baby poll tally and raffle results...
Final results from the Boy/Girl poll that we posted months ago when we first created the blog are as follows: Boy votes, 19; Girl votes, 15.
It appears that the Boys started to pull ahead up through last Tuesday, where they peaked at 19 votes. However, the Girls got a bump over the course of the last few days, beginning with our departure to the hospital. I even think that the Girls got a vote post-delivery (a little suspicious, eh?).
Bottom line though, Boys votes triumphed, but we had a girl anyway so in yo face! ;)
Lastly, if you were a participant in the Baby Birthday Raffle that we started the day of the baby shower, then you should know that the only winners were us. No one picked the right date. So, we're taking that cash straight to the bank $$$
