Kevin and I can watch this video over and over. On mute, you might be able to as well...
Vale presents the much coveted....

Untitled from KarlaB on Vimeo.

apologies for the darkness, but it was that or miss the great event
first off I'd like to give a shout out to Kevin...Wecome back to blogland honey! Here are a few pictures from our rainy weekend in San Diego ( I realize it's now thursday and everyone is over last weekend and looking forward to the next one, but over here in stay at home mommy world, The days and weeks are kinda sewn together.. tuesdays feel like Sundays, Wednesdays feel like Fridays and Thursdays feel like Mondays.

let the tent building begin!!!! Vale loved touching the blanket over our heads.

Her squeals are becoming more multi syllabic and call us crazy over here, but we've made out the worlds "hi" and "I love you" coming out of Vale. Seriously. Kevin and I actually replied "hi" in unison, it was awesome!

When we went to get her from her nap, we found her playing with her feet, first time ever, lots of cuddles ensued.

A favorite at the K/B home, Bread and Cie in Hillcrest, this is usually our Sunday hangout but we got rained out of our Saturday farmers market so we made our way over to hillcrest and lucky us because we ran into my dear S-BFF Blanca from Dos y Dos and her fiance Ryan...

looking ravishing in her new outfit--thanks Tita Kalani!

Hodad's in P.B.---that has to be the longest line I've ever waited in, but the burger was worth it! yuuuuumyyyyy! I have a little guilt over eating so much meat since finding out I was preggo, but I can't say that I miss my old veggie lifestyle.

second shot at having breakfast at a farmers market, no rain at this one.Kevin's fav, the Hillcrest one...gotta admit, it's pretty fun! we don't have many family pictures together so I was super stoked when a lady offered to take the picture!

yes it is a skillet cookie, and yes we did finish it in under 24 hours...yuuuummm...good work Kevin!

B'wait... there's more (Daddy Day Care Pt. 2)

After some breakfast, we went to the Grampies' house to get some love and to wash the truck. And then, we visited Karla for some lonche t-milk. After satisfying Vale's appetite, she tried to hop in the driver's seat, as demonstrated below.

(Most) Adults don't let babies drive drunk, or usually at all... I do.

Daddy Day Care and other firsts...

Mom aka Karla is at work, while (suprise) Dad is not. Here we go, gente. Pops is getting fully babified today. And yes, we will attempt to document the experience.

Here we are preparing for some breakfast and conversation...

The convo was getting super deep, and heated! (Note: Vale's "Domino Mothaf-er" hand slam a la that Snoop Dogg video circa early 90s)

"Ahaha. Perhaps she's got a point."

G stands for ge' it

Vale truly found her voice this week. Kevin fondly calls in squealing, but at 6am it's more like a piercing scream, even then, I have to admit it's pretty dang cute. She's also reaching for everything-- hands, toys, food, (funny story about that which I'll get to in a sec) long hair, skin (she's learned to pinch) and of course it all goes straight to........you guessed it.......her mouth..

oh but back to the food story, Kevin's water polo team had their end of season banquet at Murrietas, in Bonita and although I'm a total snob when it comes to Mexican food restaurants I actually really enjoyed the food, and so did Vale... While I was happily eating my enchiladas a little hand made its way on to my plate, I thought I caught her hand right as she did it and wiped it, but it wasn't until I passed her over to Kevin that I took a look at her face and saw that she had enchilada sauce on her mouth. Oh I felt like such a bad mom, we haven't even given her rice cereal and she's already eaten a hand full of spicy enchilada sauce, hell!

Kevin and Karla sitting in a tree

Happy Valentina's Day to everyone. I hope it's a sweet one whether you're staying in or going out!!!

Kevin and I are opting for a baby friendly Valentine's Day celebration and have decided to cook, but here is the fun part... I don't know what he is preparing and he doesn't know what I'm preparing...Its been fun concealing food items under other items...Kevin even made a little sign to keep me from coming into the kitchen while he was cooking this morning..We joked last night that we might both be making a dessert so our valentines dinner would consist of only sweets or we could both be preparing a main dish which means no dessert...ekkk...we also laughed at the prospect of accidently preparing the same dish...imagine....double portions of chocolate chip cookies, or pasta, or fish...doesn't sound too bad :0)...

One year ago today we found out we were expecting a child...what a year it's been..Had you told me on February 13th of last year that Kevin and I would be moving in together and welcoming an awesome little girl into the world that same year I would have thought you were nuts.. goes to show that you never know what is right around the corner..

I took Vale to the supermarket dressed up in her super cute outfit and usually she's okay with staying in her car seat while she's being driven around the store but today she wanted to be carried so out came the baby cute outfit and all, she must have know she was dressed to impress and would be getting compliments from EVERY SINGLE PERSON we saw at Henry's today...:)

beanie baby

I heart overstock.com for sending me a new battery charger in 2 days and Kevin for not hesitating to order me a new one! With my camera all better I couldn't wait to use it again, so Vale and I headed out to Kevin's last girl's water polo game...Vale got straight to work on looking cute and I at takin' pictures. Here are a few...

bicho non grato

Dear cold,
Vale and I are writing you, to let you know that you are no longer welcome in our home. We thought you'd only be staying a day or two so we resigned ourselves to staying indoors and hanging out with you, but you've now been here for over a week and its time to pack your bags and leave!

Thanks sisters for the yummy breakfast and much needed company, I'm sure Vale appreciated the break from me :)

Vale at one week and 4.5 months. She looks like a filled in, stretched out and more alert version of the first picture, oh wait, she is... I have a difficult time remembering how her face looked back then but what I do recall very well is how light she felt in my arms.

Excuse the blurry image, my camera is having a rough month first a jammed auto focus and now a lost battery charger, so I've been using the camera in the mirror image, not the same ;(

This little lavender number was a gift from Kevin's friend Nick, who brought it back from his trip to Italy! weet weew Vale!

On the upside Vale and I have spent lots of time together reading, playing, doing baby exercise, I'm reading Forget Me Knot by Sue Margolis (author of apocalipstic, which is the only book where I've actually lol in a full room) between her naps and I've also been reading a crochet book I've had for ages..maybe you guys have heard of it, it's called Happy Hooker, (hehe) anyway, reading crochet patterns isn't as hard as I always thought it was, you just gotta have the time to figure out what the symbols stand for. Im thinking baby beanie with a huge flower.

another iphone image to share, this one was taken on our way to the Chula Vista public library...what a lovely kids section, can't wait to see Vale roaming around the aisles selecting books to read together.

but baby you'll freeze out there

While I get to stay home most days and play with Valentina, Kevin has to go to work/student teach/coach/school, so, Vale and I stay in touch with daddy through v-mails. Here's the one we sent him this morning just before heading out for our first bundled up walk of the day..titled... Frosty the Vale.

p.d. gracias ma y paola, le encanto su traje calientito

4 months in 8 blurry pictures

I usually delete blurry images, but I'm also a bit of a procrastinator, so if I didn't delete the picture the second I took it, then it probably ended up being downloaded to my laptop and therefore a keeper, and thank goodness for that...here are a few pictures that although blurry are still a wee bit of Vale's life captured on film, er memory card

first sink bath, one week old. The water she liked but getting out of it was a different story.

1 month, walking in down town San Diego. She looks so tiny in Kevin's loving arms.

Big C still runs to wash his hands as soon as Vale arrives so he can hold her, she probably wishes he wouldn't. 2 months.

3 months, the held lift has been solid for a month but she still sighs when she hears us announce tummy time.

3.5 months. All dressed up and ready to celebrate her papa pa's retirement with her beautiful titas.

a few days from 4 months...Kevin is gonna...
a.) change her diaper
b.) hug her
c.) caress her sweetly
d.) get himself in the picture
e.) All of the above
f.) C and D only

family tea time in little Italy

Happy 4 months little one, dad pimped out the swing so it'd be safe for you to ride

1st trip to the park

parents had fun, Vale, hm..she was a little indifferent..She wasn't too sure about the swing thing, or the slide. We had to wait our turn for the baby swing since there were other cuties getting their swing on.. Once we got her in we stuffed her in with numerous blankets since she's still way too small. I still think that one day in the not so distant future, Rohr park will totally be her fav. Her cousin, big C, loved the park from day one, I would put him in that same swing she was in and he'd fall asleep.. it was impossible to get him out once he fell asleep because he would wake up and SCREAM, so I'd have to shh shh shh him and put him back. I hope that doesn't run in the family!
