extra extra read all about it

mornin mi gente, just a quick post to inform you all about two new sweet little features on our baby blog, the first you may have already noticed...the "you might also like" link which allows you to revisit old posts, even as far back as before Vale was born. rad, no? the second, all of you people that have been dying to leave comments but couldn't because you weren't official followers now can. woopee! you can even post anonymously if you'd like.....That's all I got this morning, my little lady and I have been going for walks around the golf course followed by swing time but it is HOT in SD today so we'll have to look for alternative fun...any suggestions?

6 meses

little baby girl,
We love you hundreds of lifetimes worth and we've only known you a mere 6 months. Your laugh is infectious, your cries heartbreaking, you're so generous with your smile. One of my favorite parts of the day is when you wake up from your nap, I always run into the room so you don't wake up alone....I'm always so happy that you're happy to see me, you smile and chuckle and look at me with recognition, it makes my heart hurt every time. I'm in awe everyday of my life that daddy and I get to be your parents for the rest of our lives, I wonder sometimes if there's been a mistake, if Dad and I are only still kids going to college in different cities, completely unaware of each other. But nope, you're real and you're half a year old today..very soon, that roll that you perform all over the living room will be a crawl..and all that baby chatter will be words. I wonder what you'll say first..will it be in Spanish or English?....I guess we'll have to wait and see.

SOUTHPARK

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend...ours was chill, we did our usual little league game on Saturday, farmers market on Sunday, lots of family time and we did the walk about in southpark..it was really cold, we actually thought of not going since Valentina had a mild cold but since she was doing better we bundled her and ourselves up and hit the town. there were lots of tasty, free eatables such as brownies, cheeses, gaspacho, wine, hot chocolate, tea, salad, cookies cookies and more cookies, Kevin was in heaven! Vale was totally cute and sociable for about 30 minutes and then peaced out in the stroller. Kevin and I sat at our favorite little local shop in southpark and reminisced about all the walkabouts we had attended and the one we had missed, our fav being the holiday walkabout which won with it's spiced wine and warm tomato soup samples. The one missed was the harvest walkabout, Vale was a few days old and mama was not ready to let her meet the world. oh sweet sweet memories, please stay in my brain forever....

Kevin and I decided we would like to live in Southpark one day...with Vale of course!

have a swingin' monday!

the blues

We try our hardest to keep Vale safe and healthy. We keep her away from sick people, We bundle her up on every outting. I take all the precautions I can think of and yet my little one has caught a cold. Runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, the works. I can't help but feel like It's my fault for not taking better care of her. I'm not even sure how she got it, nobody around her is sick..hopefully this is a swift one unlike the cold she got when she was 3 months, that one lasted almost a month. oh man, mi pobre Vale.

confessions of a tiny fashionista

On a recent visit to my parents house my niece little I asked if I wanted to see the things in her purse, fun girlee times ensued...

little I: tia, quieres ver las cosas en mi bolsa?
tia Karla: claro mi amor, ensename!

I knew she had a tiny obsession with chapstick, but girl really surprised me, I mean that's some dedication to building a collection! go little I!!!! if on a visit to my parents house your chapstick goes missing, consider it part of little I's exhibit

I'd wear a bracelet or two of these, they're quite cute

I mean, how many phones, keys and shades does a little lady need? Many! note: we have actually found lost sets of keys in her purse

and I thought my purse was heavy!

spwing time is here (title compliments of Vale)

happy Spring! Im sooo looking forward to warmer days and nights, Vale's got cute dresses she can't wait to show off, we're also drooling over the salt waters over at zappos...yellow, purple, pink, red, green, we want them all!!! She rolled over from her back to tummy for the first time a couple days ago, and I'm pretty sure that deserves a present dad! (hint hint)

San Diego's was overcast most of the weekend and last night it finally started pouring, I was knitting until late and enjoying chamomile tea and the sound of the rain. I own the hours of 8pm-whenever. Its my time. So lately I've been enjoying it until late into the night, I always regret it when Vale is ready to start her day off at 6am but I somehow seem to forget this the next night :) Kevin is awesome though, he's such a morning person and he'll take her and give mom "5 more minutes" which is code for 1 (usually 2) more hours...I love him!

what did you guys do this weekend? We went to the Hillcrest farmers market on Sunday where we sampled navel oranges, blood oranges and tangerines to our hearts content, Kevin always gets his coffee at the big orange truck aka Joe's on the nose. We followed that up with three tacos one was pork, the other nopales (cactus) and the third was flor de calabaza which is the brights yellow flower that grows on zucchini. My mouth is watering just thinking of it, yum! anyway, next weekend is the Southpark walkabout which is one of my favorite things to do, it's free, there's lots of yummy food, and lots and lots of couples with babies, not to mention Southpark itself is a pretty cool area of SD. I'll be posting pictures of the walkabout next week so stay tuned, in the meantime, here are a few pictures of this weekend...

the shirt hat, she loves this and its usually followed by blurps from daddy

raspberries Vale? yes please!

we didnt really go on a safari, infact, we're not even outdoors.....wanna guess where we are? yep, Michaels, this is what happens when dad is in charge :)

first trip to the beach...ah fun

Thursday, March 17, 2011

it's been a slow month for blogging so to make up for it, I'm posting pictures from the previous two weeks, hold on, it's gonna be a long one..

Big C started little league and for us that means baseball every weekend. With our little family, and his family, and my parents, and my aunt and her family, Big C has a very large crowd cheering for him.

Vale: mom, help!!
mom: hold on, let me take the picture first

acting all childless

his first home run, he couldn't ignore his adoring fans

might be the reason the other team lost.. break time-anytime

swim suit season is upon us and vale being the early bird that she is wanted to test out the waters in my parent's pool before hitting the beach..you know how critical the beach folk can be..well, the crowd loved her one piece so, she is now ready to bring it to the beach and show those other babies.

Vale: I'm so strong now, I totally don't mind being on my tummy, besides if I get tired I can just rollover!

a neighbor once said something about dads and their daughters.. something something...but seriously, Kevin and Vale together make my heart sing. We dressed her as a greaser, jean jacket, rolled up jeans, plus the cool hair.

our apartment has great lighting for a few hours each day...even a baby can use flattering lighting in their life :)
She loves the jumper for about 10 minutes, we position a footsie box under her since she can't reach the floor yet and away she goes, up and down, side to side, in a circle, all directions at once...

the crowd assembled to see the infant ride the beast aka friendly Ashes

Keep the free coming

With not a whole lot of play money, I'm always looking for free stuff to keep our little family entertained...this might be the best find yet! The new children's museum in downtown san diego is fun even for adults (correction.. especially for adults) where else can you ride a wooden carriage, watch cherry blossoms blooming, paint a whale, eat clay, take a family portrait in bird wear, wall climb, and make huge bubbles all for the nominal fee of nada...???

Vale is 5 1/2 months now and she's totally unstoppable, she's eating rice cereal for breakfast and sweet potatoes for dinner...she laughs at everything, she refuses to wear hats, she can almost roll over from back to stomach, she puts herself to sleep at night ( :( ) she sleeps through the earsplitting shrieks of my niece and nephew but awakes when Kevin and I tiptoe in to check on her, she sits up with a little help, loves the jumper, and the bjorn, she's riding in her stroller sans car seat, she cries likes she's being murdered when she's hungry, or wants to be picked up, or has a dirty diaper, or wakes up too early or most recently I've noticed..is bored!!! But we love every second with her and she's the best baby girl ever..no doubt

green girl

Happy St Patty's day! Vale gets a pinch or two daily but today we will not stand for it, today I will personally pinch back any person who dares squeeze those cheeks, after all, she's dressed in every green item in her wardrobe! :)

Two big thumbs up ruben H. fleet

Not only is there a super cool new section for 5 year olds and younger, there's an infant section too!!! How stoked am I, VERY I answer! and todays was free since its the first tuesday of the month, lucky us, I'm one happy mama. Vale loved all the bright colors and seeing all the other little ones dashing around. This place is cool I tell you, there are musical instruments and computers and suction tubes and a little supermarket and a factory and so much more. Every tuesday there's a different set of museums that are free to San Diego county residents, Vale and I can't wait till next month to go back to the space museum.

In the infant section

trying very hard to eat it
