Happy Diez!

I don't want the day to go by without posting a picture of Vale at 10 months, even if it's not the usual monthly pose..you see, she's sick..She ran a fever from Sunday through Wednesday, and right when the fever had finally subsided, she broke out in a rash, all over her sweet, chubby body. We took her to the docs and she has roseola, a little virus, harmless really, except for the scary fever, and the crabby baby, and the itchy red spots, and the poor appetite. Our poor little baby. There's nothing we can do for her though, just wait it out. I think she was happy to hear she'd be better soon because right after the docs she was instantly in a slightly better mood. I took a couple pictures of her face, but not sure if I'll share, they make me sad and I don't think I want to look at them everyday.

These pictures however I can stare at all day, I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to let her stand this close to the t.v. but since she watches about an hour (at most) of tv per week of baby einstein I figure she'll be okay. I should add that she really only stands this close for the first 2 minutes of the video, so there, I'm not a horrible mom-on this occasion at least ;)

Four times a year, thank you SP!

The event that I look forward to as much as payday-the Southpark walkabout- free food and booze, live music, open house at every shop, a nice stroll through SP, we love it all! Here are a few pictures of Vale eating all our food while we posed :)

My parents came out to enjoy the evening with us but having brought Big C and little I along, who fell asleep on the ride up, and waking up sleeping kids is completely out of the question, they just pulled over for a sec for my mom to run over and cuddle Vale before they headed back home. It sounds funny now that I'm typing it out, seriously parents, you drove up, the kids fell asleep so you drove back home- but as a new mom, I'm gonna confess that I've sat in my parked car w/ a sleeping Vale at henry's, vons, the rack, you name it, we found the shade and Vale took her up to 2 hour nap in peace while her mom relaxed and surfed the net or read a book in silence.

food thief

the long day dreamed about huge brownie plate-half gone!

she loves walking about as long as she can have a walker--she's not a huge shoe fan but these robeez she doesn't mind, the soft leather makes for easy strolling-her grandmama just got her a girlee pair that is still a tiny bit too big, but soon, real soon.

And at 8:30ish sharpish, she fell asleep...so we stayed for another hour or so and ate pizza, enjoying ourselves- just the two of us.

Comic con and more

I got a little insight into what it means to be a working mom this weekend, luckily it was a one time gig cause I don't think I could do that on a permanent basis I have a new respect for women who work 8 hours a day 5 days a week. I don't know how they do it, I was asleep by 8:30pm every night, and was still tired the following morning. I worked the convention starting wednesday through the weekend and 10 hours a day for 5 days had me missing Vale and Kevin so so so much...Aside from missing my family big time, I had a great time, my costume was comfy, my employer and "co-workers" were cool, I got to see a few actors and made some much needed moola. Although I'm not a comic book fan, I think it's really cool how the con goers are so into it, I mean they LOVE their comics, about half of them were dressed up as their favorite super hero and most people went all 5 days!

Kevin was awesome, he hung out with Vale the whole time, even bringing her over for lunch so I could feed her, what a guy! :)
These pictures were taken by Judith and Moises for Marvel. Oh, I guess you'd like to know what I'm dressed up as, I was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agents for the Avengers movie coming out next year, the costumes were worn in the movie and the stage is from the movie too! I must have posed with marvel fans for 1,000 pictures (or more) I hope my eyes were open in all.

This-is-captain-america-Chris-Evans-not-star-struck!

And because I know you guys want pics of Vale here are a few from a couple weeks back, can you believe she's 4 days away from 10 months??!!!

p.s. she took 2 steps a week ago, this is how it went
-Vale is holding onto the couch
-Vale sees mom holding her arm out inviting her to come
-Vale lunges forward and takes two glorious little steps, we can't believe it! She lands in my arms, the crowd is ecstatic and we want a repeat, but she won't-hasn't tried it again since then! so we wait, very patiently, for her to be ready for a repeat performance.

Ready or not here we come!

We find ourselves at the beach almost every time we go out whether or not it's planned. Who could resist it, especially now that we know Vale looooooves dipping her little bread rolls in the ocean. Here are two separate trips to the beach, the first was.. well.. planned. There's a swimsuit, hat, towel, umbrella, dry outfit to change into etc etc.. the second was an OB farmers market turned beach trip. No swim suit, no hat no dry outfit, nada. Truth is, she didn't care!

This picture kills me, how cute is she!!!?????

I'll tell you what not to do with this Vale..eat it!

She got all wet, I guess it was the wave's fault or so Kevin said, so she had to hang out in a diaper for the trip back home. C'est la vie!

Congrats Blanca and Ryan!!!!!

I'd like to share a few pictures of my dear friend Blanca's wedding as well as a few engagement pictures I shot for my cousin Cindy who is getting married in Rosarito this August.

Kevin and I enjoyed ourselves like it was 2009, no baby, just the two of us! It's been a bit of a challenge to schedule in baby free time but we've managed to squeeze in a few of these getaways over the past month and oh dear gosh do we have fuuun! It's made us realize that we have to spend time alone, even if it's just a couple of hours. We came back to pick up Vale feeling so happy and revitalized, ready to be even better parents (if you can believe that ;)

The first of these baby free dates consisted of a trip to La jolla for burgers, shakes and fries followed by a swim in the Pacific..It's been years since I swam in the ocean, and not just getting in thigh high, I'm talking can't-touch-the bottom-I- hope-there-aren't-any-sharks-out-here-today type of swimming. It was a perfect few hours spent with my love, imagine this, we parked the car and walked away from it seconds later, no baby set up necessary! Whoa! But of course when it was finally time to collect Vale, we were so ready to have our little tyke back in our arms.

Our second date was to celebrate Blanca and Ryan's nuptials! Everything was absolutely beautiful and perfect. From the bride and groom, to the food, the DJ, and the cake. The speeches made by the siblings of the bride and groom were funny and heartfelt. I'm always amazed how people can deliver such touching speeches without tearing up. Maybe I'm just a total sap but there is no way I will ever be able to do that! I'm looking forward to hearing where these two honeymoon, I'm sure it'll be super romantic.

How cute are these two?? Meet my cousin Cindy and her fiancee Kaneo. She's like a sister to me, we spent most of our childhood summers running around Mexicali going to parks, the mall and eating countless raspados to beat the heat! I love her to pieces and I can't wait to see her tie the knot in Rosarito later this summer....

Vale celebrates the 4th of July

I uploaded these pictures on July 6th but didn't publish the post because I hadn't written anything, I thought to myself--when Vale goes to sleep I'll do it--. Then Vale went to sleep and to be honest I can't remember what I did, I either made her food for the week, took a long shower, did my nails, vacuumed, read, made quesadillas, or a handful of other useless but oh so fun and baby free shenanigans. The point is, I didn't complete the blog post. Then the next day went by, than the next week and I kept on thinking--well, I already did the hardest part, upload all the pictures, so I'll just do it soon--. wrong again. Ya see, I feel like I owe it to you guys to have something clever to say or at least something entertaining, and most days I don't, so I keep my virtual mouth shut, but I know all ya'll really want are Vale pics, so I have nothing funny or witty or clever to write but since all you really want is the cuteness, here it is--sorry to keep you waiting!

This is my favorite picture of the three of us ever! there's a story to it too- it's long but I'll make it short. My dad ran the coronado 4th of JUly 15K, we dropped him off at the start line at 6:30, found a spot on the beach an hour or so later. At this point it was still just the three of us. While walking back from one of many trips to the water I said to Kevin, "I wish we had a private photographer if only to catch a picture of us right now." And then Vale's angel jabbed our beach neighbor in the ribs and forced her to yell out.." Do you guys have a camera so I can take a picture of you, cause that is just too dang cute?" and we did, so she took our picture. I want it printed on a canvas, wait, I want wallpaper made, no no, a mural on our ceiling, ugh, I loooooove it!

She couldn't wait, COULDN'T wait to get in!

And then she did, and must have wondered what her big rush was..that water was COLD

I like to shoot in the no flash mode, it's easy, pictures turn out great, and I rarely miss the shot, but sometimes I venture into the manual mode and I always regret it, the pictures are overexposed, blurry, too dark, or I miss the shot entirely cause I'm trying to figure out my ISO...bah, rarely do I overexpose and still love the results. The beach may be completely missing but my two favorite girls are still there :)

It was a perfect 4th of July on the beach! The only bummer was that we woke up so early and spent so much time in the sun that by 8pm we were asleep and missed the fireworks. Oh well, next year!
