"...thank Kevin for little girls"

One year old!

She happily put on her birthday girl dress this morning but got off the rocker almost instantly preferring to stand for her portrait.

My heart hurts when I think of my baby girl being a whole year old today. I'm more in love with her now than ever and I can't imagine how such a tiny little person dwells so deeply in my heart. I'm astonished everyday by her development, of her understanding of language, of her love for people and animals. She adores all the people in her life and even complete strangers encountered in elevators, super markets, parks, streets.. I wonder what her criteria is. She wonders around the apartment going from room to room, picking up treasures along the way to bring back to the living room, she never ventures too far from me, and if she does, she's quick to come back, give me a quick snuggle and be on her way again.

She's got a wickedly great sense of humor just like her old man, she likes to sneak up on us and jump on our backs or tug on our hair. We meet Kevin outside everyday when he comes home from work and as he's walking up to us we run back to the apt as fast as we can and close the screen door on him...She thinks this is the funniest thing ever and gets giddy with excitement when she hears Kevin's truck turn down the street. She loves the ocean and any water as long as its not her bath water, in the last two weeks she's developed an allergy to baths, no matter what we do or what toys or distractions we bring in for her, she outright refuses to bathe, so she's been getting quick sink wipe downs and a forced once a week hair wash. I hope it's a phase. She loves reading books, all book, small ones, big ones, ones in spanish, ones in English, if it were up to her, we'd read all day long, with breaks to go see all the neighborhood dogs.

My sweet little Vale, life without you would be so ordinary. Thanks for picking me to be your mami and Congratulations on turning one year old!
